These beautiful big red poppies are the red splash that may have caught your eye in the four-square gardens when they were featured a few days ago. these initial blooms are now fading but as this picture illustrates, lots more buds to follow. I also noticed another batch down by the Paulownia trees.
Set in the Carmarthenshire countryside 4 miles north of the centre of Carmarthen at an altitude of 600 feet. Some exposure to the westerly winds blowing from the Preseli mountains but the tree planting in 1991 manage to create a peaceful and still haven in the lower parts of the garden.
